Late Model Modified Rules Section Section 1 Body LM.1 Bodies must be of original manufacturers design, stock appearing made of plastic, steel, fiberglass, or aluminum (no carbon fibers or similar exotic materials) with a minimum 100” wheelbase. Flat rub rails allowed, but must be no larger then 1/4 inch thick by 2 inches wide. Square tubing not allowed. LM.2 Bodies to be installed as per FIVESTAR short track style guidelines (2000 or newer catalogue) LM.3 All measurements will be made with driver in car LM.4 Roof height must be a minimum of 46” Measured 10” from the top of the windshield on center. LM.5 Door shelves cannot exceed 2” on the left side, and 3 ˝” on the right side LM.6 MAX deck height will be 36” from the ground to the top of the deck at the base of the spoiler LM.7 Rear deck lid must NOT be riveted to the body. Must be hinged or made EASILY removable. Rear deck must not be dished or raked side to side. The deck lid opening must be a minimum of 36” by 12”. This will allow easy access to the fuel cell area in case of fire. LM.8 You are allowed a 6” high by 60” wide rear spoiler (measured across front) with no side boxing. No wings, ground effects, belly pans, or tubs permitted LM.9 Hood must weigh minimum of 15lbs. If weight must be added it must be added at the base of the windshield, in center of car. LM.10 No Iceman quarters, cut down fenders, or cut down bumper covers. LM.11 Must run a rear window with appropriate bracing as to prevent bowing at speed. LM.12 All jack positioners must be set flush with or hidden below door skin. LM.13 Floor plate must be minimum 1/8” thick steel LM.14 The Fivestar “MOTHER OF DOWNFORCE” High Performance Monte Carlo and any other similar bodies are NOT permitted for competition. LM.15 No external strips allowed. Any bodies that appear to be mounted in a manner that could put more air on the rear spoiler such as but not limited to sucked down rear roof, window alterations, or the front area of the car fashioned in such a way as to be sloped downward excessively could be required to make changes such as trimming or removing the rear spoiler, removing hood, or other adjustments to compensate for any possible advantages in the opinion of Tech. LM.16 Passenger and drivers side windows are permitted of clear lexan only. They are NOT to be longer then 12” from the bottom corner of the “A” pillar rearward. Rear of window must be straight up, and not bow out. LM.17 Approved aluminium stock car seat is required LM.18 Driver Safety Belts must be dated no more then 5 calendar years old LM.19 Helmet must be rated SNELL90 approved or higher (No DOT) LM.20 A Head and Neck Restraint or Neck Collar is required. LM.21 Driver must wear an approved fire retardant driving suit and gloves at ALL times car is on track. (fireproof shoes and socks also recommended) LM.22 All roll bars within drivers reach must be padded. (Proper Fire Rated Roll Bar Padding) LM.23 Cars must have no more then 56% total left side weight, and a minimum vehicle weight of 3000 lbs with rack & pinion steering, and 2980 lbs with steering box. LM.24 Two mirrors are permitted within the body lines Section 2 Suspension & Chassis LM.25 Modifications such as weight-jack screws, traction bars, sway bars, urethane bushings, etc are permitted. All modifications must pass technical and safety inspection. LM.26 Any original front GM, Ford, or Chrysler clip may be used providing it is from a car. Aftermarket front clips will be allowed, brand must be approved by Tech. Weight must be added ahead of firewall to compensate for the lighter clip. Car total weight will be the same for all cars in the class. To find out the amount of weight to be added and location, check with Tech. All clips must be approved by Tech before being installed. LM.27 Rack and Pinion steering will be allowed. LM.28 Experimental or homemade suspensions are not permitted. Front suspensions must be factory A-frame or strut design. Full front clip must be stock with proper original components in STOCK location including steering box, power steering pump, idler arm, lower control arms, spindles, alternator, etc Engine must be in middle, and leading head to touch string between upper ball-joint centers. The only changes allowed are as follows: 1) Notch may be cut in frame for fuel pump clearance 2) Notch may be cut in frame for ease of coil spring removal 3) Heim joints allowed. Spindle must be STOCK and not altered in any way, except drilled for heim joints, or reamed out to accept larger stock ball joints. 4) Sway bar may be adjustable. 5) Shocks may be moved. 6) Aftermarket upper control arms (Howe or similar) may be used. LM.29 Air and coil-over shocks and coil over eliminators are not permitted. Non-adjustable steel shocks only, with a 50-50 rating, and numbers VISIBLE. Any shock with numbers not visible, or appears altered in any way may be deemed illegal by Tech. LM.30 No cutting or welding of any front end component. LM.31 Fuel Cells must have a protective hoop assembly at the rear (minimum 1.75”o.d. .083 thick) Hoop will consist of one bar hanging down from each frame rail connected together at the bottom by a horizontal bar or one continuous bar running from frame rail to frame rail in a similar manner. Hoop must be to the bottom of the fuel cell. A top bar must run straight across between or below the frame rails at the two downward bars. A vertical bar will tie the top and bottom bars together halfway between the frame rails. Fuel cell must have minimum 8” ground clearance. Section 3 Engine LM.32 Exceptions to engines and/or weight penalties may be varied or altered at the discretion of Tech and the management of Raceway Park if it is thought to be in the best interests of the class. Certain crate engines are legal, refer to Tech. LM.33 Crate engines must remain AS PURCHASED. No alterations may be made of any type. LM.34 Engines must not exceed 360 cu. In. displacement. No stroker engines ( 318’s. 327’s for example) or de-stroker engines. Maximum overbore as follows: Dodge: .040 over GM: .060 over Ford .040 over LM.35 Maximum compression ratio of 9.0 to 1. if on checking with the Whistler, it is between 9.0 and 9.2, you are allowed 1 week to bring to 9.0 or less without being penalized. If engine is checked another time and is above 9.0 then you are given the appropriate penalty, including points and money penalty. If you disagree with whistler, then engine can be taken apart and checked manually THAT NIGHT. This will require a $100 deposit, which racer gets back if engine is found legal, or put into banquet fund if found illegal. LM.36 Stock ignition systems with the exception of high performance coils and ignition modules. No magnetos. No electronic or manual traction devices. LM.37 No roller valve trains (cams, lifters and rockers) Stud girdles are permitted. Stock valve train only including rocker arms, and ratios. LM.38 Tubing exhaust headers may be used (no stainless steel or carbon fiber types). Each car must have minimal one muffler, be FUNCTIONAL and quiet, and exit underneath car behind the driver and in front of rear wheels. LM.39 Porting, polishing, or machining of engine components, is not permitted. No matching of ports. No rod polishing except where beam sides are smoothened out for stress relief. LM.40 Any radiator allowed. (Only one per car and positioned ahead of engine). Only water allowed as coolant (No antifreeze or other cooling products allowed). LM.41 No Aluminium heads. LM.42 No GM Performance, Mopar Performance, or Motorcraft aftermarket parts where not specified. No epoxy coating to be used on head runners or intakes, etc. No late model Fuel Injection heads, or heads not approved by the TECH. Approved GM head numbers are (last three casting numbers) 492,462,186,291,and 041. These are 64 cc heads, and minor variations due to head plaining determined by TECH. LM.43 76cc heads which are street stock legal (see Street Stock section) may be used with Flat Top pistons to produce a 9:1 engine. LM.44 Heads must have STOCK valve size (maximum 1.6 exhaust and 2.02 intake). LM.45 No Domed Pistons. LM.46 No Cleveland Engines. LM.47 Electric fans permitted. Stock type water pumps permitted only (aluminium OK). LM.48 Maximum lift of 450 at the valves hot and after race. (451 or greater WILL be deemed illegal). LM.49 GM engines stock 5.7 rods only. LM.50 Minimum crankshaft height of 11” as raced. LM.51 Carburetors must be Holley No.4412 500 cfm models ONLY (no equivalents) Carburetor must remained as produced from Holley except choke flap may be removed, serial numbers must be readable, power nozzle and throttle plates must remain un-altered, no material may be removed or added to the carburetor. Must pass track no-go gauge. LM.52 Carb spacer may be used, but not exceed 1” from top of intake to bottom of the carb, excluding gaskets. Section 4 Power train LM.53 Transmissions must be produced by the same manufacturer as the car engine, and may be standard or 3 speed automatic unless otherwise pre-approved by Tech. LM.54 Stock torque converter must be used on automatic transmissions, no smaller torques or direct drive couplers permitted. LM.55 A scatter shield MUST be used with standard transmissions between the floor and bell housing, covering 180 degrees around. LM.56 No aluminium or other lightweight flywheels permitted. Stock Steel flywheels only. LM.57 No RAM clutches (small clutches) Minimum 10” stock assembly required. No aftermarket high performance clutches allowed. LM.58 Any passenger car rear end permitted. No quick-change or Detroit Locker type rear-ends permitted. No floating axles. LM.59 No cambered differentials. No aluminums spools or carriers. Mini and full spools are OK. LM.60 No aluminium driveshafts. Steel driveshafts only, and must be painted WHITE. LM.61 Matching white lines are to be painted on each axle hub to indicate the relationship of one axle to the other. These lines are to be positioned so they are lined up exactly the same on each side. (Both lines would run from the 3 o’clock position to the 9 o’clock position) Section 5 Wheels and Tires LM.62 Tires used for any and all RACE events are track spec tire only (Currently Hoosiers) with VALID numbers visible. Non track tire may be used for PRACTICE PURPOSES ONLY. No durometer rule in effect. LM.63 A tire infraction results in a 25 pt penalty, along with loss of points for the event in which infraction occurred. LM.64 Maximum wheel size permitted is 10” width. LM.65 Steel wheels only. Chrome plated wheels OK (no Aluminum or similar lightweight wheels) LM.66 Total track width is 66” maximum from centerline of rim to centerline of rim. A track width infraction results in 25pts deducted for each time the infraction occurs. Section 6 Brakes LM.67 Factory car brake systems only. Power brake systems permitted (no hydro-boost systems or equivalent). LM.68 One brake bias valve permitted per car. LM.69 No brake gauges or excess valving is allowed. LM.70 No rear disc brakes. LM.71 4 wheel brakes must be functional and hold wheel. Section 7 Miscellaneous LM.72 Scanners will be mandatory for all division competitors. Only the assigned division frequency may be programmed into the scanner. Current Frequency is 456.6750
