Grievance Procedure Section GP.1 The decisions of the officials and their interpretation of the provisions of this handbook shall be final and binding to all parties for the duration of the race meet. GP.1A All inquiries or other communications during a race meet must be directed to the Pit Stewart. GP.2 Immediately following the race meet the officials will be available to explain any decision to the driver or car owner directly affected by such decision. This is part of the race meet and all rules and conduct penalties apply. GP.3 Protests will only be entertained on an error in a Rule. There is no protest of a judgment call by an official. A protest is initiated by advising the Pit Stewart at the earliest possible moment following the incident. Prior to the end of the race meet, the protestor must present $25 to the Pit Stewart. Within 12 hours, the written protest must be in the hands of Raceway Park management. The protestor will be advised of the place and time at which the matter will be dealt with. The protestor may bring only one additional person with him/her at that time. The written protest must cite the rule which was breached and the circumstances. Should the matter be ruled in favor of the protestor, the $25 will be returned, otherwise it is forfeited. The only persons authorized to be present at Tech Inspection is up to the Tech Persons discretion. GP.4 Any car owner requiring Tech information, or having questions related to how to build your car, or having questions on a Tech call made at the track is to direct their phone call to the Raceway Park Office (phone 628-3819) only, not to the Tech man. The Tech man will then if necessary contact you. Direct calls or visits to the Tech Man will cost the caller 50 points. GP.5 Any grievance with Tech officials decisions will be in writing and given to the division rep for the appropriate division. GP.6 Any driver, car owner, or crew member who, instead of submitting a written protest as required by rule 3 in this section, organizes, or attempts to organize a boycott, or in any way delays or interferes with the normal operation of a race meet, may be suspended from racing and banned from the pit area for one calendar year. GP.7 Any competing car owner may, upon presentation to Raceway Park of a signed petition and paid protest fee may request the technical inspection of any one car that races in the same class as the petitioner’s. The written petition must be received by the head Tech official before the start of the feature for the class they are competing in. The item that is being protested must be specified. The numbers of persons present at inspection time, time of which the inspection is to be done, and location it shall be done in is all determined by a track official. The said fee will be $100 for a minor protest of which $50 is non-refundable, and $250 for a major protest, of which $100 is non-refundable. The difference between a major protest and a minor protest being that if something is removed requiring a new gasket to be installed, this would be considered major, and everything else would be considered minor. Tech has the final decision on what is considered a major and minor protest. If the protested car is found to be legal, the fee will go to the owner of the protested car. If the car is found to be not legal, $50 will be refunded to the petitioner if a minor protest or $150 will be refunded with a major protest. Purses won during the race meet by the illegal car will be paid to the car finishing in the next position. |
